How to create a home network

If you want a wireless home network, your need to buy a wireless router (make sure its compatible first!)

Your then need to connect the router to the phone line, and the plug socket so it can get power. If your connecting a wired desktop to it, you need to connect the router to the pc via a network cable.

If you want a laptop connected to it, your need to go on the laptop and tell it to search for a wireless connection. When it finds it, connect it to that network.

Securing Your Network

Go to your routers login page, normally http://192.168.2.1 and go to something like 'security' or 'access code', then change it to WEP encryption. Choose a good password, around 10 characters long with a mixture of numbers and letters. Your network should now be secure!
